Why do you have holiday rates and deposits?

Holiday rates and deposits are in place during peak times to help cover the additional staffing needed when we are busier. Deposits also help protect against last-minute cancellations. Please note that deposits are applied to your final bill but become non-refundable one week before the stay.

Why is Custom Care Daycare cheaper than regular daycare?

Accepted Answer

Custom Care Daycare is priced lower because it includes just one enrichment activity (either a hike or a solo play) within the cost. Parents can choose to add both options or other add-ons, which can bring the total closer to the price of regular daycare. This allows you flexibility to customize your pup’s day based on their needs.

Why can’t I pick my dog up whenever I want?

Accepted Answer

Even though our building may be open and staff are present, dogs can only be released to parents by a receptionist. Reception has specific hours, which differ on weekends, and only reception staff are trained to check dogs out properly. Adventure Guides are not responsible for checkouts, and because they are supervising playgroups, they cannot leave dogs unattended to bring one up for pickup. For this reason, we kindly ask that you follow our designated pickup hours.

Question 4

What is the difference between an Adventure Bath and an Exit Bath?

Accepted Answer

An Adventure Bath is scheduled with our groomers and includes a full, deep bathing process with a complete dry. An Exit Bath, on the other hand, is done by our Adventure Guides before pickup. It includes a shampoo wash and light blow-dry, but not a full dry, as that process can take 1–2 hours depending on coat type.

Could my dog get Kennel Cough?

The short answer is yes. Just like kids at school, dogs in a social environment are at risk of being exposed to illnesses. While vaccinations greatly reduce the risk, they cannot guarantee 100% protection. Our staff is very diligent in cleaning and sanitizing all areas of the facility, but despite these efforts, exposure cannot always be fully prevented.

Why is there a separate feeding charge?

There is a separate feeding charge because dogs that need to be fed individually must be placed in a kennel or suite during their meal. This prevents us from using that space for other pups, which is why there is an additional charge.

Question 7

Why can’t my dog walk on a harness or their own collar?

Accepted Answer

For safety, we use our own martingale collars (non-slip) and facility leashes, which are also labeled with “Do Not Pet” signs to protect pups during walks. Harnesses are not used unless there is a vet note requiring one, as harnesses can take extra time to put on and increase the risk of dogs slipping out.

Question 8

Does The Alps provide food?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we do have wet and dry food available. However, we always encourage parents to bring their pup’s own food to reduce the risk of an upset stomach. If our food is used, there is a $5 per meal, per day charge.

Question 9

Why does my dog come home smelly?

Accepted Answer

When pups are in playgroups, they love to wrestle, slobber, and play together. They may also step in elimination while outside, which can contribute to odors. Since bathing every dog daily would be very time-consuming, we do not automatically wash pups after play. However, you are always welcome to add an Exit Bath so your pup goes home fresh and clean!
